Basic Clothes:

The man who thinks he doesn't need a suit is wrong. An occasion or an unexpected invitation may arise at any time. Then comes confusion and flurry and finally wearing dull, baggy clothes of wrong colours. Each man needs a basic wardrobe so that he could appear anywhere in the proper clothes. The basic wardrobe consists of simple clothes of combined colours, of pieces which can be easily matched, so that you can always be sure that it meets the dressing convention.

Suits: Your basic suit should be traditional cut, single-breasted with two or three buttons, it must be made of a 100% woolen fabric or of wool and cotton blend. It should be of some darker, neutral colour, perhaps faintly striped. It also can have a waistcoat.
Anyhow your suit must be easy-fitting and of perfect size! This makes you feel comfortable.
As a summer suit you can choose a lighter coloured one made of a looser fabric.

Blazer: Choose a neutral coloured blazer, which meets your taste and style and which suits you the best. It can be a thicker one for winter, made of 100% wool
-a spring and autumn one made of wool and cotton blend or corduroy,
-a summer one made of cotton-linen cloth.
It can also be tweed or chequered but your tie and shirt must match its figuration.

Trousers: As dress slacks you should choose one of a dark pastel colour, simple cut, made of 100% wool or of cotton-wool blend. For a season - skipper choose a darker medium coloured one of looser cut made of a natural or mixed fabric. For summer a pair of lighter coloured slacks of loose cut, made of a natural based fabric of a linen character. The trousers should match the blazer, they can be lighter or darker than it. For weekdays or excursion you can have jeans made of 100% cotton, corduroy trousers madeof 100% cotton, balloon or linen trousers madeof 100% cotton or of cotton blend.

Wintercoats: As you may wear this article of your wardrobe for many years on weekdays or on occassion, we suggest that you should buy a darker coloured coat of classic cut, either short or long but one without any extravagance. Your coat should be made of 100% wool or wool blend, perhaps of cashmere or cashmere blend. It doesn't have to be lined, as you can wear enough warm clothes under it. Its collar can be velvet or fur, but if it's removable, you'd better put it on only occassionally.

Rain/Shine Coat: Every man may need a rain/shine coat or jacket. It should be made of cotton or cotton blendIf you choose one with removable lining, you could wear it in any seasons for going to work or for a walk and on rainy days as well.

Shirts: A white shirt with standard collar, made of 100% cotton fits any occasion. Your can wear your occasional shirts with a suit, with a blazer-slacks combination or only with a pair of trousers. This shirt can be of one colour or striped. It can be made of 100% cotton or cotton blend or linen. It can have a standard collar or one with buttons, with one or two pockets. It can be fly-fronted. Its colour has to match your overwear

Ties: For occasion choose a darker tie of one colour, which matches your suit, your blazer and your shirts. Your other ties can have smaller or bigger patterns. But these patterns must match the colours of the shirt and the overwear. Choose a stripy tie of crazier colours but at least one of the colours must match either the shirt or the overwear.

Sweaters: Choose a plain or coloured or figured sweater that matches your trousers and shirts. It can have a V or a round neck or a garbo neck. You can wear a thinner sweater of loose fabric under a suit. It can be made of cotton, cotton blend, wool or wool blend.

Shorts: They can be short, or reaching to the thighs. They can be made of cotton-linen, cotton blend or wool blend. You should wear shorts of loose fabric, not for doing sports, but rather in order to have a distinguished look and to feel comfortable even on hot days.

Belts: The colour of the belt has to match the colour of the overwear and the shoes. It should be made of durable leather and it should be easily adjustable. The buckle can be silver or golden as well.

Accessories: In winter a hat, a scarf and a pair of gloves are essential, on rainy days an umbrella. They should be of neutral colours and they should match the wintercoat or the rain/shine coat. The scarf can be figured in any colour of your clothes which makes you feel comfortable.

Individual Clothes

Beside the basic wardrobe every man has to decide individually what clothes he wears. It is highly influenced by his regulation wear at work. As he wears these clothes almost every day, it's important to see how many pieces of them he needs in order to live comfortably..

If you wear formal clothes and you have to wear a suit every day, you need several different suits, elegant blazers and trousers.Generally in this case there is no transition between elegant clothing and jeans. So you have to complete your wardrobe with some pairs of casual coduroy, balloon-cloth or linen trousers,with some sports coats and with some more casual shirts.

If you wear less formal clothes and the regulation at your workplace is not so rigorous, you need more diifferent suits, some sports coats and trousers. In your wardrobe there have to be elegant, everyday and casual clothes as well, sweaters, T-shirts, casual shirts and some unconventional ties.

-If there is no regulation at all, you rather need some casual trousers, shirts, T-shirts, sweaters and sports coats. You wear a suit only occassionally and it is in your basic wardrobe. But for social events you need a more elegant blazer and trousers..

-If you wear a uniform at work, your firm provides it for every weekday. Your wardrobe may contain suits, blazer-slacks combinations and casual wear as well. If you buy new clothes, be sure that the new pieces match the older ones.
